About this Landmark

One of the four major extant 64-Yogini temples in India. Perched atop a hillock overlooking the Narmada, this 10th-century Kalachuri temple features a hypaethral circular courtyard housing 64 intricately carved yogini idols around a central shrine to Shiva and Parvati.

Historical Significance

Built by Kalachuri King Yuvarajadeva I in the 10th century AD, and later visited by Queen Durgavati. The temple stands as a testament to early medieval Tantric and Shaivite spiritual architecture.
